What is Describe Your Audience?
Describe Your Audience is a natural language targeting input inside Meta's Advantage+ campaign setup. Instead of selecting interests, behaviours, and demographics from menus, the marketer types a plain language description of the ideal customer, and Meta's AI translates that brief into a working audience.
The feature rolled out across Advantage+ Sales and Advantage+ App in early 2026 and is now a default option that nearly every Meta advertiser encounters when launching a new campaign.
How it works
The marketer writes a short description, for example "new parents in urban areas who recently bought baby gear and follow sustainable brands." Meta's audience model parses that text, maps it to underlying signals such as past purchase events, page interactions, and demographic clusters, then proposes an estimated reach.
The system also blends the description with Advantage+ exploration logic, so the final delivered audience is broader than the literal description and tunes itself based on early conversion signals. The marketer can refine the prompt, lock specific exclusions, or fall back to traditional detailed targeting if needed.
Why it matters
For advertisers, Describe Your Audience lowers the skill floor for setting up complex Meta campaigns and pushes more decisions onto Meta's AI rather than manual interest stacks. Smaller teams can launch faster, and large teams can prototype concepts without rebuilding audience layers each time.
