Codex specifics

  • TOML only for remote. Add the [mcp_servers.coinis] block by hand. Do not run codex mcp add for a hosted URL.

  • codex mcp add will fail. That command expects a stdio command and will not connect a hosted endpoint.

  • Optional token. Use bearer_token_env_var or http_headers if Coinis requires an auth header.

  • Restart after editing. Codex reads the config on start. Restart it after you save the TOML.

How do I add Coinis to Codex?

Edit ~/.codex/config.toml and add a [mcp_servers.coinis] block with url = https://mcp.coinis.com, then restart Codex.

Can I use codex mcp add for Coinis?

No. The codex mcp add CLI expects a stdio command. For a hosted URL you must add the TOML block by hand.

Do I need an API key?

No keys to paste. If a token is required, set bearer_token_env_var. Coinis uses OAuth on first use.

Codex is not showing the Coinis tools. What now?

Confirm the TOML block is correct and restart Codex. Make sure you did not use the codex mcp add command for the URL.
