VS Code specifics

  • Root key is servers. VS Code uses servers with type http. Do not copy the mcpServers shape from other hosts.

  • Agent mode only. Open Copilot Chat and switch the mode dropdown to Agent. Tools are hidden in Ask and Edit.

  • Runs through Copilot. MCP runs inside GitHub Copilot Chat. Confirm trust on first start.

  • Token via prompt. For an auth header add headers with Authorization Bearer and an input variable.

How do I add Coinis to VS Code?

Open the Command Palette, run MCP: Open User Configuration (or create .vscode/mcp.json), add the coinis server with type http and the URL https://mcp.coinis.com, then use it from Copilot Chat in Agent mode.

Why are the Coinis tools not showing in VS Code?

MCP tools only appear in Copilot Agent mode. Open Copilot Chat and switch the mode dropdown to Agent. Confirm the server trust prompt on first start.

What is the correct config key?

VS Code uses servers with type http, not the mcpServers shape used by other hosts. Copying another host's JSON is the most common mistake.

Do I need an API key?
